Send us your device list
List what you have or plan to buy and which rooms it goes in. We reply with what works together, what needs a hub, and a firm price for the installation.
Where the line is on electrical work
Most smart home work is low voltage or plug-in: bulbs, plugs, battery sensors, hubs, Wi-Fi cameras and doorbells on existing chime wiring. That is what we install. In Ontario, adding a circuit, changing breakers or working inside the panel is a job for an electrician, and the Electrical Safety Authority has its own rules on who may do it and when a permit is needed.
If your job needs new wiring at the panel, we will tell you up front that it needs an electrician. A common example is a hardwired shade motor or an outdoor camera where there is no outlet nearby. We can do the mounting, pairing and set-up around the electrician's part, so the device is mounted, paired and working once the electrician is done.
Getting smart devices to work together
Most smart home complaints come down to devices that don't share an app or keep dropping off the Wi-Fi. These checks before buying prevent most of it.
Pick one home app first
Decide which app or voice assistant runs the house, then check every device supports it before buying. Routines tend to fail when devices are split across several apps.
Check the Wi-Fi where devices go
A camera in the garage or a shade in the basement often sits at the edge of the router's range. A mesh point can be cheaper than a returned device.
Know which devices need a hub
Some sensors, locks and shades talk through a hub or bridge rather than Wi-Fi. It needs a spot near the router and its own power.
Name things the way you speak
Kitchen pendants, not Bulb 3. Clear names make voice control and shared use far easier for everyone in the house.
Plan for a power cut
Decide what lights do after an outage, keep smart bulbs on switches that stay on, and keep a normal key for any smart lock.
Alarm system installation
A self-installed alarm often ends up with a motion sensor aimed at a sunny window and a door contact that false-alarms in the cold. We place contacts on every ground-floor door and accessible window, set motion sensors to cover the routes through the house rather than the open rooms, and put the keypad where you pass on the way in and out. Then we arm and trip each zone to prove it reports.
If you want the alarm watched by a response centre, that monitoring is arranged with a monitoring provider. We install and set up the hardware so it is ready for them to connect.
Home theatre set-up
We mount the TV into studs or with anchors rated for the wall, place the soundbar or speakers, run and hide cables where the wall allows, and connect the streaming box, console and receiver. Then we set the TV and sound settings so dialogue is clear and the remote controls the volume without a second remote.
Moving into a new home is a good time for this, while the walls are bare and the boxes are still open. We can book the theatre set-up the day after the move, alongside furniture assembly.
Moving in with lighting, TV and doorbell set up
Book the move, the move-out clean at the old place, and the TV, lighting and doorbell set-up at the new one in one booking. You deal with one team, and the lights and doorbell get set up instead of sitting in their boxes.
Your questions, answered
Before you book
How much does smart home installation cost in the GTA?
It is priced by the job, based on the number of devices and what each needs. Send a list of the devices and the rooms they go in, and we will give you a firm price.
Can you install smart switches or new light fixtures?
Anything that needs new wiring at the panel, such as a new circuit, needs an electrician, and we will tell you up front if your job does. Send us the device and a photo of where it goes and we will tell you who should do which part.
Do you install alarm systems?
Yes. We install and test door and window contacts, motion sensors, keypads and sirens. Monitored alarm service is arranged with a monitoring provider; we set up the hardware.
Which smart home brand do you recommend?
We don't push a brand. The most important choice is one app or voice assistant for the whole house, and devices that support it. Tell us what you already own and we will work with it.
Can you set up smart blinds and lights in the same visit?
Yes. Doing them together means we can create routines across both, like shades closing and lamps coming on at sunset.
Will you show us how to use it?
Yes. Before we leave, we walk through the app with you, add other household members, and show you how to change a schedule yourself.
Can you set up a home theatre after a move?
Yes. We mount the TV, set up the sound and tidy the cables. Add it to your moving booking and we can do it once the furniture is in place.
