Include the rooms people forget
Walk through the garage, laundry area, basement and outdoor space when making your inventory. A house described as three bedrooms might also have a home gym, large sectional and shelves of tools. Photos of those areas help the team choose a vehicle without guessing from the bedroom count.
Separate the clear-out
Mark items that will travel, items someone else is collecting and items for junk removal. Arrange removal as a separate quoted service before the moving crew starts loading. It is easier to keep the move organized when an unwanted sofa is already out of the way.
Plan the driveway and doorway
Measure the tightest entrance and mention steep steps or a shared driveway. Ask household members to leave the agreed vehicle space clear. Do not assume street parking is available because a driveway is full; check the current local restrictions for your address.

Give the new house a room plan
Write a room name on two sides of each carton and use the same names on paper signs at the destination. Children’s bedrooms are easier to find when they are labelled by name rather than left or right. Put bed hardware in a labelled bag with the relevant furniture. Keep the items needed for the first evening together, including towels, bedding and breakfast supplies. For a closing-day move, tell the team when keys are expected and who can authorize entry. A key-release time is not guaranteed by the movers, so discuss what happens if access is delayed. Cleaning and packing can be added to your request and priced separately.

Can the crew take the garage contents too?
Include them in the inventory and identify anything heavy, sharp or potentially hazardous. The team will explain what can be transported and what needs a different arrangement. Do not leave a second vehicle-load of items out of the quote request.
How much do movers in Vaughan cost?
