Estimate a move between Oakville and Hamilton
Downtown Hamilton is about 27 minutes from central Oakville without traffic; Binbrook or upper Stoney Creek add more. Count that drive into your hours, pick a truck, and the estimator includes 13% HST.

Hour ranges are a planning guide, not a quote: real time depends on stairs, elevators, how packed you are and the drive between homes. Packing materials are extra. Minimum booking time is confirmed when you reserve.

Older brick houses in the lower city
Neighbourhoods like Kirkendall, Corktown, Westdale and the streets around Downtown Hamilton are full of houses built a century ago: tall, narrow brick homes with steep staircases, tight landings and small doorways. Box springs, wardrobes and sectionals that came in through a modern door can get stuck on a turned stair.
We take apart whatever can be taken apart, and that is included in the rate. For pieces that cannot, measure the stair turn and doorways before move day and let us know. Many older Hamilton streets also have tight on-street parking, so tell us where a truck can stand.
What changes on and around the Mountain
The escarpment climb
Getting a loaded truck from the lower city to Hamilton Mountain means using one of the accesses, such as the Claremont Access or the Jolley Cut. Plan a little extra time for it.
Mountain bungalows and backsplits
Postwar homes on the Mountain are usually easier to load than lower-city brick, with side doors and shorter stairs.
Dundas and the valley
Dundas sits below the escarpment with older homes on hilly streets. Steep driveways change how the truck is loaded.
Winter on the escarpment roads
Snow and ice make the accesses slower. A winter date is fine; just keep the walkway at both ends clear.
Waterdown, Ancaster and Binbrook
Waterdown is in the City of Hamilton but sits close to Burlington, so from Oakville it is one of the quicker Hamilton destinations. Ancaster, Binbrook and upper Stoney Creek have many newer subdivisions with large detached homes and double garages, which usually means the 22–26 ft truck.
Buyers leaving Oakville for more space in these areas are often going from a townhouse to a larger house. If that is you, the furniture you own today sets the truck size, not the size of the new home.
Cleaning your Oakville home after the move to Hamilton
Book the move to Hamilton, a move-out clean of the Oakville home and TV mounting or furniture assembly at the new one together, so one team handles all three.
Your questions, answered
Before you book
How far is Hamilton from Oakville for a move?
Central Oakville to Hamilton City Hall is 32.1 km by the QEW and Highway 403, about 27 minutes without traffic. Addresses on the Mountain or in Binbrook add drive time.
Is there a surcharge for moving to Hamilton?
There is no separate fuel or mileage charge, because both are inside the hourly rate. The drive between homes counts as working time, like the loading and unloading.
My house in Westdale has a very narrow staircase. What should I do?
Measure the tightest turn and the doorways, then tell us the biggest pieces when you ask for a quote. We dismantle beds and tables at no extra charge, and knowing about the stairs helps us plan the load.
Do you move people within Hamilton?
Hamilton moves are arranged on request. Share both postal codes, your date and what needs moving so we can confirm the route and availability.
Which package fits a three-bedroom Ancaster home?
Most three- and four-bedroom homes need the 22–26 ft truck, which is $130 an hour with two movers. A lightly furnished home may fit the 15–20 ft truck at $120.
Do you supply boxes for a Hamilton move?
Yes. Packing materials, including stretch wrap, are charged separately from the hourly rate, and we can include them on your quote.
