TV mounting: six details to check before booking
The screen, bracket, wall and cable route all matter. Share them together so the installation can be planned properly.

At a glance
Your quick checklist
- TV and bracket model numbers
- Full-wall photo and known wall material
- Preferred viewing position
- Cable plan, hardware and electrical scope agreed
Identify the screen and bracket
Send the TV model and the bracket model, or explain that you have not bought a bracket yet. Screen size alone does not establish compatibility. Ask the installer to confirm the mounting pattern, weight limits and suitable hardware against the manufacturers’ specifications.
Photograph the whole wall
Include the floor, nearby outlets and any fireplace, shelves or cabinetry. Say what you know about the wall construction, but let the installer assess suitable fixing points. A neat-looking wall does not show what is behind it, and installation should not depend on a guess.
Choose a viewing position
Sit where you normally watch and mark a proposed position with removable tape if appropriate for the surface. Think about glare, furniture placement and the angle of the screen. Final height and placement should account for both comfort and the constraints of the chosen mount.
Discuss cables separately
Explain which devices connect to the TV and whether you want visible cables tidied or a concealed route assessed. Those are different scopes of work. Household wiring changes need the appropriate electrical professional; do not assume a TV mounting quote includes a new outlet. Confirm what hardware and finishing are included.
What changes the installation quote?
Optimum quotes TV mounting for the actual installation. Send the TV model and size, mount model, wall type and photos of the proposed position. Say whether the bracket is already supplied and whether you want cables concealed or simply tidied. Ask which fixings and materials are included and whether the proposed cable route needs work outside the installer’s scope. Do not assume a new electrical outlet is part of a mounting quote. Get the agreed installation tasks, total and applicable tax in writing before booking.
