Get your repair list quoted with better photos.

For small repairs, one close-up rarely tells the whole story. Send the problem, its surroundings and the result you want.

At a glance

Your quick checklist

  • Wide and close-up photos for each job
  • Measurements and model numbers included
  • Numbered list in priority order
  • Materials and specialist work clarified
01

Take a wide photo and a close-up

The wide photo shows access and the surrounding surface. The close-up shows the damaged hinge, loose fitting or unfinished edge. If the issue is difficult to describe, a short video may help. Avoid including private documents or personal information in the frame.

02

Describe what changed

Explain whether a door has started sticking, a fitting came loose or an item has never worked correctly. Mention previous repairs and any parts you already bought. Measurements and model numbers are useful; guesses about the underlying cause are less useful than a clear description of the symptoms.

03

Put several small jobs in one list

Number the tasks and match each number to its photos. Include the room and your preferred outcome. Ask which jobs can be handled together and whether materials are included. A clear list makes it easier to discuss priorities if the full scope needs more than one visit.

04

Confirm the right trade for the job

Some work needs a specialist. In Ontario, hired electrical work generally requires a Licensed Electrical Contractor, subject to limited exemptions. Ask who will perform any wiring work rather than assuming it is covered by a general handyman appointment. Get the agreed scope before booking.
