Furniture assembly: prepare the room before the boxes arrive.
The right space, complete packages and a clear destination make assembly easier. Start with the item link and the room it belongs in.

At a glance
Your quick checklist
- Product link and quantity shared
- All packages and instructions present
- Final location and working area cleared
- Anchoring and packaging removal discussed
Share the exact product
Send a product link or model number, the quantity and any optional parts. Two similar wardrobes can require very different work. Explain whether the item is new in its packaging or has been partly assembled, dismantled or moved before.
Check the delivery before the appointment
Count the packages against the delivery information and inspect for obvious damage. Keep instructions and hardware with the correct item. If a box is missing, contact the seller and let the assembly team know before the visit rather than hoping the missing parts are optional.
Clear space where it will stay
Prepare a working area around the final position and protect access through the room. A large finished piece may be harder to move through a doorway than its separate panels. Mention stairs, narrow turns and anything already fixed to the wall.
Agree on the finished result
Ask whether wall anchoring, packaging removal and moving old furniture are included. Follow the product’s instructions for anchoring and safe use, including any supplied restraints. Before the visit ends, check doors, drawers and the agreed position together, and keep spare parts and instructions labelled for later.
How long will assembly take, and what will it cost?
Send the product name, model or instruction link, the number of items and photos of the packages. A simple table and a multi-part wardrobe are different jobs, so a room count alone does not establish time or price. Mention wall anchoring, stairs, an occupied work area and any partly assembled item. Ask the team for a job-specific estimate and clarify whether packaging removal and required fixings are included. Follow the manufacturer’s assembly and anchoring instructions. Optimum does not publish a universal IKEA assembly time or standalone assembly rate.
