Tell us the job, get a labour-only quote
Send the address, what is being loaded or moved, how many flights of stairs, and the size of the truck or container. We come back with a crew plan and a price for the labour.
Labour-only help versus a full move
The difference is who brings and drives the vehicle, and what that means for cost, responsibility and how the day runs.
| Labour-only moving help | Full move with our truck | |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle | You rent the truck or container and drive it | Our van or truck, driven by our crew |
| Price | Quoted on request for the labour | Published hourly packages: $100, $120 or $130 |
| Fuel and mileage | Paid to your rental company | Included in the hourly rate |
| Furniture disassembly | Ask us when you book | Included in the hourly rate |
| Loading plan | We load to suit your truck size | We match the truck to your home |
| Who coordinates timing | You time the pickup and return of the rental | We arrive with the vehicle in a confirmed window |
Ask how insurance applies when the vehicle is your rental rather than ours, so you know what is covered before move day.
When labour-only makes sense, and when it does not
Labour-only help suits people who already have the vehicle sorted. Maybe a moving container is part of a relocation package from an employer, or a friend is lending a pickup, or a rental truck was booked months ago for a cross-province drive. In those cases paying a full moving package would mean paying for a truck you do not need.
It is a weaker fit when you would be renting a truck anyway just to save money. By the time you add the rental, fuel, the insurance option the rental company offers and your own time spent driving and returning it, the gap between labour-only and a full move with our truck can be smaller than it looks. Our full-move rates are published, so you can compare the two with real numbers.
Labour-only also puts the driving on you. A loaded 20-foot rental behaves very differently from a car, especially reversing into a townhouse complex in Glen Abbey or a narrow driveway in Bronte. If you would rather not do that, book the full move and let our crew drive.
How to get the most out of a labour-only booking
The crew is booked to lift, so anything that keeps them standing around costs you time.
Have the vehicle there first
Pick up the rental truck before the crew arrives and park it as close to the door as you legally can, with the ramp clear.
Know the container's door clearance
Check the inside height and width so tall wardrobes or headboards can be planned for before loading starts.
Finish packing
Boxes should be taped, labelled and stacked near the door. Loose items on shelves slow everything down.
Bring tie-downs and blankets
Most rental trucks have rails for straps. Ask the rental company if moving blankets and straps come with the truck, or tell us and we will bring wrapping materials, which are charged separately.
Plan the unload as well
If you also need help at the other end, book both ends together so the second crew is waiting when you arrive.

Help with the lifting, then the rest of the move
Labour-only help pairs well with the services around it: a move-out clean of the home you are leaving, junk removal for what does not fit in the truck, and furniture assembly or TV mounting once you arrive.
Your questions, answered
Before you book
How much does labour-only moving help cost?
There is no published labour-only rate. It is quoted on request based on what is being loaded, the stairs and distance from the door, and how long the job will take. Our full-move hourly packages are published if you want to compare.
Will you drive my rental truck?
No. With labour-only help you or someone you choose drives the rental. If you want us to drive, book a full move with our truck instead.
Can you load a moving container in my driveway?
Yes. Tell us the container's length and whether it sits on the driveway or the road, and we will plan the load from the back wall forward so it travels without shifting.
Can you just move furniture inside my house?
Yes. Moving heavy pieces between rooms or floors, into a basement or out to the garage is a common labour-only job. Send photos of the pieces and the stairs.
Do you take apart beds and tables on a labour-only job?
Ask when you book. Disassembly is included in our full-move packages; on a labour-only job, tell us which pieces need to come apart so it is in the quote.
Do I need to supply boxes?
Pack before the crew arrives so they can start lifting straight away. If you need boxes or stretch wrap, we can bring them; packing materials are charged separately.
