Getting a moving quote? Send these details first.
A useful moving quote starts with your belongings, your buildings and your timing. Here is what to share before comparing prices.

At a glance
Your quick checklist
- Both addresses and the moving date
- Room photos plus a large-item list
- Stairs, parking and elevator details
- Written inclusions, extras and timing
Start with the route
Send both postal codes, your preferred date and any fixed deadline. A key handover at noon or a reserved elevator changes how the day needs to be planned. Mention a storage stop or a second pickup now, rather than adding it on moving morning.
Show the size of the job
A bedroom count is only a starting point. Take a wide photo of each room and list large items separately: beds, sofas, appliances, desks and outdoor furniture. Include the basement, garage and storage locker. Point out anything unusually heavy, fragile or difficult to take apart.
Explain access at both ends
Describe stairs, elevator reservations, parking restrictions and the distance from the truck to your door. If you cannot confirm an access detail yet, say so. A clear unknown is more useful than an optimistic guess.
Compare the whole estimate
Optimum’s published moving packages start at $100 per hour, with $120 and $130 options depending on the vehicle. HST and packing materials are extra. Ask about minimum hours, billable travel time and what happens if the job takes longer. An hourly rate is not a fixed total. Keep the agreed scope and estimate in writing.
