A simple labelling plan for a small office move
Label desks, boxes and destinations with the same code. A little preparation helps the office reopen with fewer missing pieces.

At a glance
Your quick checklist
- New layout with matching destination codes
- Adapters and equipment labelled
- Access and IT contacts assigned
- Time reserved for reopening checks
Create a destination plan
Sketch the new layout and give each desk or room a short code. Use that code on the furniture, equipment and boxes belonging there. Keep department names secondary, because a team name alone does not tell a mover which corner of the office you mean.
Pack each workstation together
Ask each person to clear drawers and pack their desk contents. Label power adapters and peripherals before separating them. Photograph cable arrangements where useful, but have your IT contact decide how computers, networking equipment and business data should be prepared.
Assign responsibilities
Name one person to answer questions at each location. Confirm who will unlock the doors, supervise loading, reconnect equipment and approve the final walkthrough. Keep private files and sensitive devices under an agreed chain of responsibility instead of leaving them among unlabelled boxes.
Test the essentials before reopening
Plan time to check internet access, key workstations and essential equipment after delivery. Moving furniture and restoring IT are different tasks; confirm which tasks are included in the booking. Keep a small list of missing items or damaged packaging and raise it promptly with the appropriate person.
