At a glance

Your quick checklist

  • Photograph every pile and larger item
  • Separate items to keep, donate or remove
  • Show stairs and the route to the vehicle
  • Ask which disposal and carrying costs are included
01

There is no useful price without the load

Optimum quotes junk removal after reviewing the items and access. The published hourly moving packages do not set the price for a clear-out. Send wide photographs of each pile as well as pictures of unusually large or heavy pieces. Give an approximate count of boxes and furniture items, and identify anything you cannot photograph. A tightly framed photo of one sofa cannot show the rest of a basement. If you are comparing providers, send the same inventory to each so the quotes describe the same work.

02

Show how the items leave the property

Tell the team which floor the items are on, whether there are stairs and how far they must be carried to the vehicle. Include elevator reservations, narrow turns, locked gates and parking arrangements. If a wardrobe or desk needs taking apart, say so before booking. Access can change the work even when the load stays the same. For a condo, confirm the loading arrangements with the building manager rather than assuming the visitor parking space is suitable for the collection vehicle.

03

Separate the decisions from the collection

Mark the items that are leaving and keep them apart from anything a relative is collecting or you intend to sell. Consider donation for usable items, but confirm that the recipient accepts them before arranging transport. Do not describe everything in the room as junk if some belongings must stay. For an estate or shared property, have the person authorized to decide approve the removal list. A written list and labelled photos reduce confusion when more than one person is involved in the handover.

04

Ask about special items first

List appliances, electronics, unusually heavy furniture and any material you are unsure about. Do not mix paint, chemicals, propane cylinders, batteries or unknown liquids into an ordinary household pile. Ask the team what it can accept and consult your municipality or region for the appropriate disposal route. This guide does not promise that every item can be collected or that everything removed is donated or recycled. Any destination or handling requirement that matters to you belongs in the discussion before collection.

05

Compare the full scope before booking

Ask whether the quote includes carrying, agreed disassembly, loading, transport, disposal charges and applicable tax. Confirm what happens if the load changes or the photos do not show an item. Get the agreed list and price in writing. If you also need moving or cleaning, request separate lines for those services and arrange the order: keep the moving inventory apart, remove unwanted items and clean after the rooms are clear. Send your postal code, inventory and access notes through the junk removal page to start the conversation.
