Clear your garage in stages, not one giant pile.
Choose what stays, keep a clear route and identify unusual materials before arranging removal. A staged plan is easier to manage.

At a glance
Your quick checklist
- Exit and walking route kept clear
- Shared belongings checked before removal
- Unknown materials kept separate
- Final pile and vehicle access confirmed
Start with a small working zone
Choose an area you can finish without blocking the exit or moving everything outside at once. Sort one shelf or corner at a time. Leave a clear walking route and avoid stacking unstable items while you decide where they belong.
Label the decisions
Use clearly marked keep, offer for reuse and remove areas. Ask other household members about shared belongings before putting them in the removal group. Taking a photo of the final removal pile helps prevent a useful item being collected by mistake.
Pause when the contents are unknown
Keep unidentified chemicals, damaged batteries and other unusual materials separate. Do not open, mix or empty unknown containers to make them easier to dispose of. Check the appropriate local disposal route and describe these items to the team before booking.
Book the actual finished pile
Once the sorting is complete, photograph the volume and list bulky items. Explain whether the truck can reach the garage and whether anything needs lifting from a loft or awkward corner. After removal, put retained items back by use so the cleared floor does not immediately become storage again.
