What to include with your request
| Detail | What to send | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Piano | Type, photos and model or dimensions | The instrument determines the handling plan |
| Pickup | Postal code, floor and route photographs | Stairs and tight turns affect feasibility |
| Destination | Postal code, intended room and route photographs | The team needs to plan both ends |
| Building access | Elevator dimensions and loading arrangements | Booking rules and clearances may limit the time slot |
| Timing | Preferred date and any fixed deadline | Availability is confirmed against the job requirements |
If a measurement or model is unknown, say so. The team may need further information before agreeing to the move.
Check the route before reserving the date
For a condo move in Toronto, Mississauga or Oakville, ask management about the elevator opening, cabin dimensions and loading access. Send the actual measurements if available. An elevator reservation alone does not establish whether the instrument will fit, and a passenger route may differ from the approved moving route.
For a house or townhouse, count steps at the entrance as well as inside. Photograph the top and bottom of staircases, sharp turns and the space outside the door. Mention sloping paths, uneven surfaces or a long walk from the parking position. These are details to assess before the appointment, not surprises to solve once the piano is at the door.
Keep the planned route clear for the review and moving day. Do not dismantle the instrument or attempt a test lift to see whether it fits. Describe the obstacle and let the team confirm whether the job can be accepted and how it should be planned.
Send the piano and access photos together
Include both postal codes, the instrument type and your preferred date. We will review the job and confirm the required arrangements and quote before booking.
A piano quote is separate from a household moving rate
The published residential moving packages are useful for planning ordinary household loads. A piano needs its own assessment. Ask for a written quote that identifies the instrument, the carrying routes, the agreed work and any charges outside that scope. Do not calculate a piano price by multiplying the lowest home-moving rate by an assumed number of hours.
Confirm what happens if access differs from the photos, the elevator is unavailable or the requested date changes. If the piano is part of a larger move, have its handling listed explicitly in the agreement so it is not treated as an undeclared extra on moving day.
Ask how insurance applies to your particular instrument, including exclusions, documentation and the claims process. Confirm the handling arrangements and available coverage before accepting the quote. Record existing marks and discuss any unusual condition before collection.
Before the appointment
Choose the final position
Know the destination room and the intended placement. Share any restricted doorway or floor access before booking so the plan covers the final position, not just the front entrance.
Separate loose belongings
Keep sheet music, decorations and other personal items separate from the instrument. Tell the team about detachable accessories so their handling is included in the request.
Confirm building arrangements
Arrange access with both properties and keep the building contact available. Check the agreed arrival window against elevator and loading reservations before the move.
Your questions, answered
Before you book
Do you offer piano moving in Oakville and across the GTA?
Yes. Send the instrument details and both postal codes. The team confirms whether the piano and access requirements can be accommodated before agreeing to the date and price.
Do the published home-moving hourly rates apply?
A piano is quoted separately after an assessment of the instrument and route. Do not assume it is covered by a standard residential package. If it is part of a household move, request a written scope that includes the piano.
Can you move any type of piano?
The instrument type, dimensions and access must be reviewed first. Tell us whether it is upright, grand, baby grand or digital. We confirm acceptance for the actual job rather than promising every instrument or staircase arrangement.
What if there are stairs?
Send the step count and photographs of the stairs, landings and turns at both addresses. Mention entrance steps too. The team needs this information to decide feasibility and the required handling arrangements before booking.
Is tuning included?
Do not assume tuning or instrument repair is part of a moving quote. Ask the team to identify the exact services included and arrange any instrument care you need separately.
Can I request a piano move within the same property?
Yes, send the current and intended locations, the route between them and the piano details. The team will review the access and confirm whether the job can be booked and how it is priced.
