Why Burlington clear-outs tend to be big ones
Many of the older streets near the lake, in Roseland, Aldershot and around Downtown Burlington, have houses that one family has lived in for decades. When parents move to a condo or a retirement residence, the job usually covers a full basement, a workshop, a crawlspace of holiday decorations and a garage that has not held a car in years, not just one couch.
Estate clear-outs follow the same pattern, with one difference: the people deciding are often not the people who lived there. It helps to walk the house once with coloured stickers. Green goes to family, yellow gets donated or sold, and everything unmarked comes out with us. An hour spent doing that before the crew arrives saves a lot of back-and-forth calls while we are loading.
What we haul, and what has to go elsewhere
We can take most household contents. A few categories are regulated and have to go to a public drop-off instead of our truck.
Usually fine
Sofas, recliners, mattresses, dressers, desks, exercise equipment, boxed household goods, old electronics, carpet offcuts and general garage clutter.
Ask first
Very heavy items such as a chest freezer, a pool table or a cast-iron tub. We can usually take them, but they change the crew size, so mention them up front.
Not taken
Paint, solvents, pool chemicals, propane tanks, motor oil and batteries. Halton Region runs household hazardous waste drop-off for Burlington residents; check the Region's site for the current location and days.
Better to donate
Good furniture and working small appliances often have a second life. Set them aside and we will leave them, or tell us and we will load them separately for you to drop off.

A simple order of work for a downsizing clear-out
- 1
Family picks first
Give relatives a deadline to take what they want. Anything still in the house after that date goes to donation or removal.
- 2
Donations out next
Charities often have their own pickup rules and waits, so book them before the junk haul, not after.
- 3
Junk removal
We clear everything left, room by room, and sweep the floors behind us so the space is ready to show or clean.
- 4
Final clean
If the house is being listed or handed back, a move-out clean right after the haul means the agent photographs empty, clean rooms.
When to use Burlington curbside pickup and when to book a haul
Burlington's regular curbside collection handles normal household garbage, and bulk items follow their own schedule and limits. Those limits differ from one municipality to the next, so check Halton Region's rules before you drag a basement's worth of furniture to the curb. If the pile is larger than a week or two of pickup, or you need the house empty by a closing date, a single haul is usually simpler.
Your questions, answered
Before you book
Can you clear a whole house in Burlington in one visit?
Often, yes, depending on volume. Photos of every room let us tell you whether it is one load or two and how long the crew will need.
How is junk removal priced?
By the job. Send photos or a list of the items and we reply with a firm price. We do not publish a flat junk removal rate because two loads that look alike can weigh very differently.
Do I need to be home?
Someone should be there at the start to point out what goes and what stays. For an estate clear-out, a family member or the agent can do that walk-through.
Will you take old paint from the basement?
No. Paint and other household chemicals go to Halton Region's hazardous waste drop-off. Everything else in the basement we can usually take.
Can you also move the furniture they are keeping?
Yes. A downsizing job can be a move for the pieces going to the new home and a haul for the rest, booked together. See our Burlington movers page for the truck rates.
How soon can you come?
We serve the GTA, with each visit booked for your job. Tell us your preferred date and we will confirm whether it works; ask about availability if the timing is tight.
